Farm therapy

Home Place Farms is a place to unwind, and rest your heart. Our 29-acre farm has prime soil and has been used for farming for many years. Our farm is located in the beautiful foothills of Eastern Alabama. This region is known for its rolling pastures, and water availability for crops and animals. Bear Creek runs through our property providing a year-round water source for livestock and crops.

Our Farm therapy utilizes nature and environments. Breathe fresh air, listen to birds and running water at the creek and gaze at the night sky. You will find peace through the stillness, and comfort and affection by holding and petting animals. These therapies are important to anyone who has experienced trauma in their lives, including and particularly PTSD. Our goal is for our Veterans to learn and apply these techniques to their lives by experiencing them on the farm. A farm is a safe place,  where you can be present and mindful through comforts of other Veterans, nature, and our animals. Participate in projects that benefit the farm and Veterans. We are all rushed through our days and have little time to stop and enjoy what is around us. Take time now to visit Home Place Farms.

Look what we are growing at Home Place Farm! Not just plants…reverie, camaraderie, and hope.

Genesis 1.29. God said, “See, I give you every seed-bearing plant that is upon all the earth, and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit; they shall be yours for food…“

We Planted 80 tomato plants and 45 pepper plants in 2020 with Veterans, Hayes Wilson and Dan Strain.

Great therapy to work the ground- create life.

Used the same post hole diggers my grandad used to plant his veggies years ago. Tough but rewarding work.

Look forward to sharing with others and helping Veterans and animals…

Share your time and talents with us.

“So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives growth.”

1 Corinthians 3:6-7
